Job Description

POSITION OVERVIEW:   The JCS Coordinator of Counseling and Spiritual care  is responsible for: a) helping the JCS leadership develop its annual service plan; b) identifying the resources and procedures needed to implement  this service plan; c) introduce, train and supervise staff in evidence based treatment interventions d) provide ongoing supervision to  staff and social work interns individually as well as provide group supervision d) helping JCS staff to coordinate their service delivery; e) providing direct services to clients f) outreach and  promote collaboration between JCS  and Jewish communal organizations that make use of JCS services

KEY ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Expertise in evidence based interventions and its implementation

  • Experience in training and supervision of new and more seasoned staff

  • Expertise in assessment as well as individual short term and group counseling

  • Capacity to Lead and Mobilize Groups and Colleagues

  • Creative thinker with strong communication and collaboration skills

  • Strong Program Planning Skills

  • Computer competence

  • Extensive knowledge of and commitment to Judaism and spirituality

    ADDITIONAL FUNCTIONS MAY INCLUDE:

  • Familiarity with Jewish Communal Institutions and Resources

  • Capacity to Work with Jewish Board support units, such as Marketing, and Development.

  • Capacity to Set Priorities and Structure Programming and Events

    EDUCATIONAL / TRAINING REQUIRED:

  • Master’s Degree in Social Work or other Human services-related field.

  • Training in Administrative Work.

  • Training in Mental Health Services

    EXPERIENCE REQUIRED / LANGUAGE PREFERENCE:

  • Administration and supervision

  • Group work and individual counseling

  • Jewish Communal Work (e.g., at JFS, JCC, day School, camp, youth group)

  • Knowledge of and commitment to Judaism, Jewish practices/textand spirituality

  • Knowledge of Hebrew helpful

    COMPUTER SKILLS REQUIRED:

  • Word, Excel, Outlook Email, social media

  • Some database experience preferred.
