OVERVIEW: The Case Associate in the Queens Domestic Violence working with specialized populations provides residents with goal definition and acquisition, case management, care coordination, and assistance in developing the competencies they need to live successfully in a safe environment in the community.  The Case Associate works directly with residents to develop and implement a comprehensive service plan aimed at helping them secure and maintain adequate and safe housing in the community. The Case Associate also conducts community outreach and provide education regarding domestic violence services.

RESPONSIBILITIES include but not limited to:

  • Provide services to residents within the scope of program regulations and mission.

  • Carry primary responsibility for an assigned caseload.

  • Provide a range of direct services, including active, hands-on skills training and supportive counseling.

  • Provide instruction in general safety and security to all residents.

  • Conduct regular safety and maintenance checks of the apartments; assist in resolving facility-related problems.

  • Conduct apartment meetings, helping roommates live together successfully.

  • Ensure that residents understand the occupancy requirements and assist them in meeting them.

  • Complete all required documentation, such as admission documentation, assessments, service plans, progress notes, walk-throughs, fire drill documentation etc. as required.

  • Perform outreach and in-reach with a focus on providing education to the community regarding domestic violence awareness and services. Must make a minimum of 2 presentations in the community a week and complete documentation outlining the outcome of each meeting.

  • Engage in community outreach by building clientele through phone contacts to schools, hospitals, day care centers, after care programs etc.
  • Design a module for teaching/training the community about the effects of domestic violence.
  • Complete monthly reports.
  • Assist residents in securing adequate housing.

  • Provide linkage services.

  • Maintain contact with primary treatment providers or other service providers to coordinate care, attending case conferences as needed

  • Escort and advocate for residents (court, school, hospital, benefits offices).

  • Provide crisis management and intervention.

  • Attend staff meetings and trainings.

  • Develop, supervise, and participate in community meetings and program activities.

  • Conduct intake screenings and assessments.

  • Other duties as assigned



    Case Associate: Bachelor’s degree in social work, psychology or a related health/human services field and one year of relevant experience with the domestic violence population.
