Job Description

OVERVIEW:      Manages and oversees the real estate and needs of the Jewish Board’s programs, including congregate residences and scattered-site apartment programs, to provide staff and residents with safe, functional program and living space. Manages the commercial leases and identifies prospective new locations. Works alongside the Director with landlords, negotiating new and existing leases and ensuring good, collaborative relationships. Works closely with program and facility department staff. Tracks and ensures completion of work orders and corrective actions. Position requires travel throughout the five boroughs of NYC.

RESPONSIBILITIES include but not limited to:

  • Negotiates JBFCS facility and program apartment housing leases, lease extension and terminations
  • Identifies prospective commercial lease opportunities
  • Manages commercial and residential lease database
  • Reviews and evaluates all lease changes and helps determine tenant and landlord responsibilities 
  • Monitors and supervises leases and rent payments throughout lease period
  • Maintains positive and working relationships with landlords and realtors
  • Identifies spaces for programs
  • Supervises two to three Real Estate staff members
  • Maintains lease files and completes paperwork
  • Makes regular program and site visits, as needed
  • Participates in regularly scheduled meetings
  • Manages special projects, as assigned
  • Ensures compliance with JBFCS and regulatory agency policies, procedures and regulations
  • Works collaboratively with program and Facilities’ Department staff as part of a service delivery team
  • Completes other duties as assigned

REQUIREMENTS: 

• Bachelor’s Degree

• A minimum of five years’ experience in Real Estate, Facilities, or a related field

• Demonstrated organizational, writing and professional skills• Supervisory experience

• Above average computer skills, including Excel
