Job Description

Agency Overview:

The work of the music therapist an integrated component of the Early Childhood Mental Health Consultation (ECMHC) program.  ECMHC is a problem-solving and capacity-building intervention implemented within a collaborative relationship between a professional consultant with mental health expertise and one or more caregivers, typically an early care and education provider and/or family member. ECMHC aims to build the capacity (improve the ability) of staff, programs, systems and families to prevent, identify, treat and reduce the impact of mental health problems among children from birth to age 6 and their families.

Essential Duties (include but are not limited to):

  • Development and execution of weekly classroom as well as child-caregiver therapeutic music groups.
  • Work closely with site directors and teachers to provide music therapy groups to children as well as parent-child dyads.
  • Provision of consultation to teachers and site directors about goals and impact of therapeutic interventions
  • Provision of annual assessments and progress reports of the patient's ego status, based on their musical expression and behavior.
  • Completion of weekly progress notes relating to the Music Therapy goals established in the treatment plan.
  • Other tasks as assigned.


  • Master’s degree in Music Therapy from an accredited institution and at least 2 years of related work experience preferred.
  • Passion for early childhood development and education
  • Strong organizational and project management skills
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to multi-task, problem solve, work creatively and independently, as well as function in a team environment
  • Bilingual/Bicultural preferred
