Job Description

POSITION OVERVIEW:

The Lifeguard oversees the aquatic complex and ensures the safety of the patrons in the swimming area. The person should be able to work with at risk youth in Residential Treatment Centers and Office of Mental Health facilities.

KEY ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Ability to perform assigned tasks requiring physical strength and agility
  • Capability to react efficiently and tactfully with the campus and to be capable of enforcing regulations firmly and impartially
  • Ability to serve the community of at risk youth at JBfCS with honesty, integrity and respect in full accordance with JBFCS Policies and regulations
  • Monitors activities at the pool to prevent accidents. Must perform water rescue, prevention techniques, first aid, and CPR if needed
  • Cautions swimmers regarding unsafe practices and safety hazards; enforces and adheres to pool rules and regulations
  • Be able to teach beginning swimming lessons to youth
  • Duties may include a variety of maintenance tasks including written in daily log book and oral reports must be given during supervision

EDUCATIONAL / TRAINING REQUIRED:

  • Life Guard Certification, CPR and First Aid, International Lifeguard Ttraining Program (ILTP) License is required

  • Working outdoors
  • In and out of water (pool) frequently
