Job Description

PURPOSE:

The Cedar Knolls House Hard to Place Group Residence serves girls ages 12 to 21 who exhibit a wide range of emotional and behavioral challenges stemming from acute and/or chronic traumatization. All of the youth are referred by the Administration for Children’s Services. The Group Residence provides supervised living units and programs of therapeutic and recreational services that emphasize family interaction and strengthening of community support networks, as well as increasing independent living skills. The goal for all of our youth is to transition them back to the community within a year of placement to a family member, significant adult connection, achieve housing, higher education, etc.

All treatment team members work to ensure that youth and families drive the focus of their treatment and are full-time partners in their own healing and recovery. The treatment team supports youth and families in developing the skills to keep them safe from abuse, neglect and maltreatment, and to foster and strengthen connection to their home and communities.  The team assesses the individual needs of youth, families, and their environments.  Clinical programming infused into Milieu Treatment and individualized interventions reflect the program’s commitment to culturally competent practice based on strengths, needs, and feedback. Youth and families have direct input into their treatment as well as program performance and development. We utilize the Trauma Informed Care (TCI) model in conjunction with evidence-based clinical interventions to support youth and family in their healing and recovery.

POSITION OVERVIEW:

The Administrative Social Work Supervisor will be responsible for direct care, oversight of administrative and clinical supervision and staff performance evaluation in the Clinical Department.  The position requires familiarity and compliance with all relevant regulations in the ACS Foster Care System. All responsibilities are to be carried out in accordance with the standards of regulatory bodies and of The Jewish Board.

KEY ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS (List the functions that are essential to achieve the goals):

  • Assist in the interviewing and hiring of clinical department staff
  • Process staff termination in accordance with JBFCS Policy & Procedure
  • Conduct staff Training & Development as assigned
  • Schedule and monitor staff attendance, staff and vacation scheduling to ensure proper coverage
  • Conduct performance appraisals as assigned
  • Assist and help oversee admissions process in accordance with all relevant intake criteria
  • Participate in all meetings, as assigned
  • Participate as member of leadership team
  • Provide clinical services and crisis support services to clients on an as needed/required basis
  • Experience working with youth with complex trauma and commercially sexually exploited youth preferred
  • Provide individual and group supervision to clinical and case management staff
  • Supervise MSW students, as assigned and provide clinical supervision to social work staff.
  • Assume on call administrative and crisis evening and weekend duties as needed.
  • Monitor compliance and adherence to deadlines and documentation requirements in accordance with ACS regulations
  • Experience with CONNECTIONS and electronic medical records preferred
  • Other duties as assigned

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) required; Licensed Masters Social Worker (LMSW), pending LCSW exam, wll be considered.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Strong computer proficiency
  • Minimum 4 years’ experience in Child welfare, with at least 2 years supervising staff
  • Valid NYS Driver’s License
